🗞️ In the news

West Island Home Prices Are Moving in Opposite Directions (Kirkland)

Third-quarter sales data shows neighbouring West Island towns heading in different directions. The median single-family home price in Kirkland hit $1,005,000, up 12% from a year ago, and DDO rose 6% to $797,000. Pointe-Claire went the other way, down 4% to $759,500, while Beaconsfield slipped 1% to $960,000. Quarterly medians can swing with the mix of homes sold, but it's an interesting snapshot of where the market stands.

Pointe-Claire Swimmers Make History (Pointe-Claire)

Pointe-Claire's Masters Swimming Club has been named Team of the Year by the Quebec Swimming Federation. The club's roughly 225 adult swimmers set 47 provincial, 31 national and two world records during the 2025–26 season, and added a Guinness World Record for a 100 × 200-metre freestyle relay. Not bad for a community swim club!

🎙️ Artist Spotlight

It started with a Facebook post. Ava Katz, a 19-year-old who recently fell for poetry, went looking for other West Island writers. Karen Leigh, a longtime magazine writer and arts lover, answered. Now the two are co-hosting a Poetry Open Mic at Studio 77 in Pointe-Claire, Friday, October 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. First-timers are welcome to read, and you're just as welcome to come listen.
