Together with Supermarché PA

Supermarché PA (Marché PA) logo

Hey West Island! Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, so there's plenty going on around the West Island, plus a few good reasons to take a break from the candy. Sadly, the older my kids get, the better they are at keeping a record of exactly how much they bring home. The dad tax is getting harder to collect!

In today's West Island Buzz:

• 🎃 Thousands of lights synced to music at Stillview Lights in Pointe-Claire. Watch from your car for free.
• 🕯️ A last chance to see Dorval's Cabinet of Curiosities, a Halloween exhibition of strange objects and forgotten wonders.
• 🥕 The last outdoor Marché Ste-Anne of the season, before it moves indoors for the winter.
• 🍓 A free cup for the first 50 customers at TurnBerry's grand opening in Kirkland.

⬇️ and more below.

From Parc Avenue to Pointe-Claire: The family behind PA

The Erimos family standing outside the new Supermarché PA store in Pointe-Claire

The Erimos family standing outside the new Supermarché PA store in Pointe-Claire

During the ice storm of January 1998, brothers Sam and Taso Erimos drove out in their truck to restock bottled water at their small grocery store on Parc Avenue. Before they'd even finished unloading, they were giving it away to neighbours for free.

That was the spirit behind the first Supermarché PA ("PA" stands for Parc Avenue). Founded in 1989 by the brothers and their Greek immigrant parents, Nicholaos and Yiannoula, PA remains an independent, family-owned business, with Sam and Taso now joined by their four children.

Today, this story has a West Island chapter. PA opened its newest location in Pointe-Claire this summer, bringing fresh produce, specialty foods, everyday essentials, and competitive prices to 15 Donegani Avenue.

Giving back is at the heart of PA, from supporting local charities and shelters to participating in Valois Fair Day and handing out free fruit at the Pointe-Claire Run. Just as Sam and Taso shared water with their neighbours during the ice storm, the Erimos family continues to support the community that supports them.

Help us build the West Island's best business directory

We're putting together a West Island business directory, and we want it built by you, not by an algorithm. Who's your go-to? The restaurant you always recommend, the plumber who actually showed up, the hairdresser you'd never leave. Just hit reply with as many names as you like, and a line on why if you have a sec. We'll add your picks to the directory.

Together With K Pilates Studio

She was never a Pilates person. Then she tried one class.

K Pilates Studio

One K Pilates client had never been a fan of yoga or Pilates. Then she tried the studio in Dorval at an open house, and she kept coming back. Today she calls it “like a second family.”

What keeps people coming back is how they feel: stronger, standing taller, with the stairs, the groceries and getting up off the floor all a little easier. Most of the work happens lying down on the machine, so it’s easy on your knees and hips. Classes are small, so instructors adjust every movement to you.

West Island Buzz readers can try their first class for $24 (regularly $40).
